Tea Review #3: Seattle Chai
Yesterday I received two ounces of Seattle Chai from Perennial Tea Room. Besides Earl Grey, chai is definitely one of my favorites. I love all those warm spicy flavors, so I was anxious to try this chai blend.
My setup is as follows:
20 oz Yeti tumbler
filtered water
whole milk to taste
coconut sugar to taste
pinch of Redmond salt
Today I made my first cup using this blend. The tea turned out to be a little weak for my taste. There’s nothing wrong with the tea; I just have to experiment and figure out what is the optimal quantity of tea leaves to put in the infuser. Next time I will use more tea leaves or allow it to steep longer. I’m sure the next cup will be perfect.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this tea. In other chai blends I’ve tried, the cinnamon was the most prominent flavor. In this one, I thought the cloves were more dominant, but I have no problem with that.
Whenever I try a new tea, I buy 2 ounces so I don’t waste too much money if I end up not liking it. I plan to get 4 or 6 ounces next time, so that gives you an indication that I really enjoyed this one. This tea gets my stamp of approval, and I encourage you to give it a try as well.
